چکیده

Abstract The influence of single and multiple imperfection cases on the load carrying capacity mild steel cone subjected to axial compression was considered through numerical simulation in current paper. Three different techniques were considered, which are: i) uneven length (sinusoidal/square waves), ii) crack, iii) indentation (SLI) imperfection. Abaqus 6.19 FE used carry out simulation. compressive applied at small radius cone. Results showed that buckling axially compressed depends approach implemented. cones seen be heavily affected by for both Also, effect is more noticeable higher r1/t.

Buckling of axially compressed thin cylindrical shells with functionally graded middle layer

Buckling of a simply supported three-layer circular cylindrical shell under axial compressive load is studied. The inner and outer layers of the shell are comprised of the same homogeneous and isotropic material, and the middle layer is made of an isotropic functionally graded (FG) material whose Young’s modulus varies either affinely or parabolically in the thickness direction from its value f...

Computation of Localized Post Buckling in Long Axially-Compressed Cylindrical Shells

Buckling is investigated of a long thin cylindrical shell under longitudinal compression as modelled by the von KK armm an{Donnell equations. Evidence is reviewed for the buckling being localised to some portion of the axial length. In accordance with this observed behaviour the equations are rst approximated circumferentially by a Galerkin procedure, whereupon cross-symmetric homoclinic soluti...

Buckling Analysis of Axially Loaded Corrugated Cylindrical Shells

Buckling analyses of heavily corrugated cylindrical shells based on detailed full finite element models are usually computationally expensive. To address this issue, we have proposed an efficient computational method of predicting the onset of buckling for corrugated cylindrical shells which builds on the Bloch wave method for infinitely periodic structures. We modified the traditional Bloch wa...

Buckling of Stiffened Thin-Walled Cylindrical Shells under Axial Compression with Symmetrical Imperfections

This study aimed to investigate the effects of stiffeners on buckling of thin cylindrical shells under uniform axial compression. To this end, more than 300 finite element models of stiffened cylindrical shells were prepared. The variables considered are shell thickness, number, dimension and the location of the vertical and horizontal stiffeners as well as circular symmetrical imperfections. R...
